Climbing can boost brain function. Indoor rock climbing is an incredibly fun hobby, but more importantly it is a skill that requires problem solving and an awareness of one’s body that positively affects the brain. When you’re on the wall, you make many decisions concerning hand and foot placement to avoid falling. You also need to consider the appropriate timing for shifting your body weight. These repetitive thoughts made one after another are an exercise for your brain’s processing capabilities. Additionally, climbing requires extreme focus and presence in the current moment which promotes a mind-body awareness while reducing stress. Climbing is a great team building exercise that increases social skills and trust as you climb together.
